Ensures quality of imaging and image acquisition, DSA, and hemodynamic monitoring. Ensures radiation safety practices are used for patients and personnel. - Proficient with aseptic technique and assists physician with scrubbing during procedure. Transport patients to and from the cath lab.  May apply manual pressure to puncture site to obtain hemostasis following procedures. - Assists with technical utilization of physiologic monitoring/data devices in the cath lab. Calibrates physiologic and monitoring devices. Prepares appropriate forms to document procedural data. Prepares and maintains physiological data after completion of each procedure. - Completes annual competencies and educational requirements. - Sets up trays for procedures using sterile technique. - Assists physician with scrubbing during and after procedure. - Prepares skin and drapes patient for procedure using aseptic technique. - Acquires supplies needed for procedures and may pass to physician or assistant maintaining sterile technique. Assists in maintaining inventory control. - Administers CPR, defibrillation, Ambu, etc. as ordered by physician during procedure. - Transports patients to and from procedure rooms. Reports status of hemostasis of puncture site(s) to nurse. JOB SUMMARY - The hand therapist is a physical therapist (PT) or occupational therapist (OT) responsible for maintaining standards of professional and ethical practice following the guidelines of the State of Texas Board of Examiners for Physical/Occupational Therapy. The hand therapist delivers quality therapy services to patients by performing evaluations and developing individual treatment plans and goals to maximize functional outcomes. The hand therapist actively participates in discharge planning, implements the treatment program, and reassesses treatment results. Services are delivered within the framework of an interdisciplinary team approach, including significant others, and the patient. These services are delivered in compliance with CHI St Joseph Health’s mission, ethical standards, and policies and procedures.  The hand therapist will work directly with the hand surgeon and orthopedic rehabilitation team to support, develop, and implement pre- and post- surgical protocols for hand rehabilitation services throughout the health system.  The hand therapist will treat the following, but not limited to, conditions: tendon injuries, peripheral nerve injuries, crush injuries, repetitive motion disorders, lacerations, arthritis, joint replacement, and digit reattachments.  Services provided by the hand therapist will include post-operative management of upper extremities, custom orthoses of the upper extremities, joint mobilization, instrument-assisted soft tissue techniques, manual therapy, taping techniques, wound and scar management, edema management, work simulation, range of motion, strengthening, and arthritis management.  The hand therapist will be proficient and skilled in fabricating and choosing appropriate splints and other adaptive equipment.   The hand therapist will assist and guide the CHI St Joseph Health administration in purchasing decisions related to hand rehabilitation services using best practices and considering cost efficiency.  The hand therapist will serve as a mentor to the 80+ member therapy team in the area of hand rehabilitation.    ACCOUNTABILITIES - ESSENTIAL - Evaluates/assesses patients in a systematic and thorough manner; establishes appropriate treatment plans and goals within specified time frames; administers appropriate treatments to patients; knowledge and skill in therapeutic exercises, modalities, rehab equipment, manual techniques, and transfers. While performing radiographic procedures within the scope of licensure, LMRT will be able to utilize the imaging equipment and utilize the appropriate exposure factors to ensure a high quality of imaging. All imaging will be performed with minimal supervision and strictly adhere to the established practice and safety standards of CHI St. Luke’s Health. Accurately performs preliminary physical tests such as: measures blood pressure, records weight, temperature, pulse and respirations and other measures as directed by established clinical protocols.     Key Responsibilities: - Perform general patient care by following established standards and procedures. - Greet and prepare patients for the health care provider. - Obtain and record vital signs including but not limited to, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, and current medications and presenting problem. - May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. - Administer ordered medications and/or vaccines via oral, injection, topically, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or inhalant administration. - May perform routine tests including but not limited to EKG’s. - Schedule patients for diagnostic testing and follows up to ensure completion of testing. - Communicate with patient regarding test results and plan of care by phone or mail as directed by physician. - Prepare, clean and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment; keep patient exam rooms stocked, clean and orderly; dispose of contaminated items according to protocol. - Document patient plan(s) of care, tests and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider. - Escalate non-routine issues, questions and/or concerns to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s). - Ensure safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required. - Provide for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights. - Perform other duties as assigned by practice manager, MA Lead or as requested by healthcare provider(s).
