JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE Performs diagnostic and vascular procedures on patients using ultrasound waves to examine tissue and body structures. Obtains patient history, explains routine procedures and addresses patient concerns. Responsible for maintaining patient record and files. Performs all ultrasound techniques and examinations, abdominal scans, retroperitoneal scans, limited obstetric and gynecological scans, and a variety of tests to include, but not limited to, carotid imaging, peripheral plethysmography, doppler wave form, segmental pressure, venous imaging, and thoracic outlet studies.   ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. 2. Performs procedures to ensure quality patient care in accordance with Radiologist’s expectations and protocols. 3. Displays knowledge and complies with the National Patient Safety goals. 4. Supports and reports any identified compliance matters. 5. Participates in hospital and department quality assurance programs to ensure safety and satisfaction. 6. Maintains professional development and education for technical competency. 7. Uses standard precautions, PPE, at all times. 8. Maintains regulatory compliance and licensure for current position. 9. Attends all CHI Saint Joseph Health required educational programs as well as all Learn modules. 10. Contributes to the efficient operation and monitoring of the department and utilizes our resources efficiently. 11. Demonstrates complete working knowledge of equipment within assigned area. 12. Knowledge and performance of the Code of Conduct Standards. 13. Other duties as assigned by manager

Assists with room turnover. - Able to recognize and communicate any patient issues to RN or physician during the procedure. - Maintains supplies and stocks procedure rooms and travel carts during down time. - Assists with tracking locations and maintaining inventory of equipment. - Disinfects and cleans scopes and equipment according to hospital policy and manufacturer guidelines. - Performs other duties as assigned. - Manages reports and expedites completion and distribution. - Completes department log books and schedules. - Performs 12 lead EKG’s. - Processes EKG’s in MUSE system. - Completes competency based training for ultrasound imaging under direction of the Imaging Coordinator. - Performs ultrasound studies under supervision of credentialed sonographer for specified modality.

Job Summary / Job Purpose   The Sonographer is responsible for performing obstetrical and gynecologic ultrasound examinations at a technical level in accordance with department protocols and applicable regulatory requirements. Will assume responsibility for the safe, efficient and proper operation of the ultrasound equipment.   Key Responsibilities   * Produce high quality ultrasound images and obtain appropriate measurements for each exam. * Recognize the sonographic appearance of normal and abnormal tissue structures and provide the best image quality for documentation. * Document all applicable patient and procedure data consistently and correctly. * Obtain and evaluate pertinent patient history and physical findings that may affect the sonographic examination. * Explain procedures adequately to patients to maximize patient comfort and cooperation. * Appropriate monitoring during all phases of procedure with special care taken to insure patient emotional and physical well-being. * Communicate patient information in a professional and courteous manner to patients and to referring physician offices as required. * Maintain the ultrasound equipment for cleanliness and ensure proper equipment maintenance and equipment safety. * Calibrate and maintain equipment and order supplies when needed. * Schedule and coordinate tests. * Prepare and maintain operational logs. * Assist with Quality Assurance/Improvements audits and activities as required. * Perform other duties as assigned.
