The nursing process is an ongoing process that can end at any stage.  - Assessment - Demonstrates a systematic,  dynamic way to collect and analyze the following healthcare consumer data including: psychological, physiological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic and lifestyle factors - Plan – Sets measurable and achievable short and long term goals according to standards of care based on the assessment by the nurse in collaboration with the healthcare consumer and multidisciplinary team. - Implement – Implements and/or modifies the plan of care using assessment data, clinical reasoning based upon standards of care and evidence based practice. This includes care coordination, education and discharge planning. The nurse is accountable for the care directly, indirectly or through delegation.  Professional and legal standards for delegation must be followed.   - Evaluate – Uses a systematic ongoing process to evaluate progress towards identified healthcare consumer goals. Revision of plan of care when needed involving the healthcare consumer and the multidisciplinary team.

Job Summary Under general direction, the Scheduler-Surgery Coordinator is responsible for scheduling all inpatient and outpatient surgery and medical procedures, tests and studies ordered by the physician.  Provides support, and communicates necessary information to patients and physicians regarding surgery scheduling.   Key Responsibilities - Maintain the surgery schedule, providing necessary information to patients and physicians. - Coordinate, register and schedule appointments for patients according to availability. - Conduct patient pre-certification on proper insurance approval for appointments and medical care. - Ensure all pre-operative required tests needed prior to surgery, are scheduled and completed. - Coordinate and ensure necessary equipment is ordered, room availability/scheduled, pre-surgery medication, etc. is arranged prior to scheduled procedure. - Communicate detailed information and answer patients' questions regarding surgery preparation instructions, arrival / departure instructions relative to procedure. - Schedule any necessary follow-up appointments, as directed by physicians. - Receive and screen calls relating to problems that may arise due to date changes and any reasons for cancellation. - Escalate non-routine issues to the practice manager or physician. - Perform other duties as assigned by the practice manager or physician.
