POSITION SUMMARY

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilizes the nursing process to ensure appropriate patient care is provided in a cost effective, quality driven, and patient focused manner. Collects pertinent social, psychological, developmental and spiritual data from the patient, significant others and other health care team members.
- Performs as ongoing assessment, formulates nursing diagnosis and goals, plans appropriate interventions, and evaluates the outcome of the interventions.
- Consistently documents in the patient and unit records according to written health system standards of care in order to meet legal and quality patient care requirements.
- Provides appropriate teaching and information to patients and families including information on Pain Management, Nutrition, Skin Integrity, Fall prevention, Diabetes, Disease Process, Smoking Cessation, and Discharge instructions.

- Performs Outpatient/Inpatient procedural sedation in Diagnostic Imaging and all Inpatient Units as needed.
- Assesses and places PICC lines and midlines.
- Starts difficult intravenous insertions throughout the facility.
- Replaces or adjuncts unit staff due to illness, staffing shortages, etc. throughout the facility.
- Assists with admissions, discharges, and other patient care issues during high acuity periods throughout the facility.
- Assists with any special procedures and or difficult patient issues.
- Serves as a resource to the more novice clinician.
- Performs bed control, determining placement of direct admits, post-operative and emergency patients.

Job Summary:
The goal of the telemedicine ICU program is to help improve the quality of care and outcomes of critical care patients and to be a resource to the bedside and clinical staff. From a centralized command center location in Tacoma, Washington, the incumbent works collaboratively with the telemedicine ICU and an interdisciplinary team of healthcare providers to facilitate achievement of clinical objectives, quality/customer service standards and improvement of patient care outcomes. The duties are conducted in accordance with organizational policies, applicable regulatory requirements and scope of practice for the nursing profession and is strongly focused on patient safety. The responsibilities also include continuous contact with physicians, patients, patient families, community agencies, patient care staff and management. This role is accountable for the quality of care provided to patients, and has the authority to direct care, provide education, seek resources at the unit/department level, and delegate appropriate tasks.
Compassionate registered nurses with strong clinical skills, a caring attitude, and the ability to work independently, are highly desired. Incumbents must have strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to effectively educate patients and their families on the in-home healthcare process.

From a centralized command center location, the incumbent works collaboratively with the telemedicine ICU and an interdisciplinary team of healthcare providers to facilitate achievement of clinical objectives, quality/customer service standards and improvement of patient care outcomes. The duties are conducted in accordance with organizational policies, applicable regulatory requirements and scope of practice for the nursing profession and is strongly focused on patient safety. The responsibilities also include continuous contact with physicians, patients, patient families, community agencies, patient care staff and management. This role is accountable for the quality of care provided to patients, and has the authority to direct care, provide education, seek resources at the unit/department level, and delegate appropriate tasks.
Compassionate registered nurses with strong clinical skills, a caring attitude, and the ability to work independently, are highly desired. Incumbents must have strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to effectively educate patients and their families on the in-home healthcare process.
