Updates and verifies patient data in information system; maintains unit/department specific records as assigned. - Recognizes rhythms with the potential to alter the patient’s physiology and obtains a documentary ECG strip; immediately reports all arrhythmias to the RN responsible for the patient in accordance with established protocols. - Maintains current knowledge of the technical operation and capabilities of the central monitoring station; maintains alarm systems according to established protocols and responds appropriately to monitor alarms; identifies/troubleshoots routine technical problems with the monitors and sends work orders for maintenance/clinical engineering repairs as necessary. - Handles incoming and outgoing communications, answers questions and assists staff in accordance with established procedures. - Maintains a safe work and patient environment, adhering to the hospital’s Safety, Risk Management and Regulatory Standards and if applicable infection prevention. Job Summary:   CNA in the Hospice department job is responsible for assisting in the delivery of non-professional nursing care, under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) in a defined care team and in accordance with scope of practice, for the Franciscan Health System (FHS).  An incumbent performs the basic aspects of general patient care where the services of a registered or licensed practical nurse are not required.  Employees assist medical/nursing staff in the examination, treatment and care of patients, including the transport of patients and equipment and assisting in the admission, transfer and discharge of patients.   Tasks are assigned by nursing staff in clear, detailed and specific instructions.  Employees work as instructed and seek guidance on matters not specifically covered in the original instructions.  Work is reviewed through progress checks for accuracy, adequacy and adherence to standards, instructions and established procedures.  Travels to patient homes to provide care/assistance which may include preparing meals for patients as necessary.
