Adheres to refund approval protocols for non-routine refunds. 10. Meets quality assurance and productivity standards through identification, reconciliation of credit balance accounts and review of credit balance reports for potential overpayments in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.

Job Summary:   Responsible for all refunds/recoups to include: refund requests and recoupments; monthly accounts receivable reports to ensure timely refunds/recoups for both patients and carriers.   Essential Responsibilities: - Field patient and insurance calls regarding refunds/recoups. - Audit patient accounts for accuracy regarding charges, payments, demographics, insurance information and submit appropriate requests for adjustments, corrections or refunds. - Review and request all refunds/recoups for all payers and follow policy per payer guidelines. - Review credits on self-pay refund reports, review accuracy of account information needed to ensure proper and timely refunds. - Maintain A/R credits aging per payer and practice guidelines. - Review all insurance correspondence regarding overpayments. - Maintain current working knowledge of insurance guidelines through newsletters and websites and a strong understanding of participation guidelines. - Back up for payments and charges at close or during peak times. - Work in all areas of the department during peak times, vacations, illnesses, etc.
