Reviews the physician orders to verify the type of diagnostic test requested and that the indication for the procedure is consistent 9. Communicates with Radiologist to obtain proper exam protocol/test design. 10. Provides specific diagnostic test information to the patient ensuring that the patient is aware of the diagnostic test involvement. 11. Performs Point of Care testing for lab tests according to hospital guidelines. 12. Effectively starts IVs following hospital guidelines. 13. Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Imaging Services and/or Mercy Outpatient Imaging Manager, the CT Technologist works closely with the referring and interpreting physicians, other department staff and patients. The CT Technologist is qualified for and will perform technical support in CT and Radiology. This position requires rotating on-call.
Essential Functions:
- Performs C.T. scans, general x-rays, radiology and CT procedures, as well as assists in the OR as needed. Routinely provides exams of high quality and presents them to Radiologist for interpretation.
- Performs routine diagnostic and fluoroscopic radiology exams of high quality.
- Provides for patient safety and comfort during procedures. Practices radiation safety during exams in keeping with ALARA principle. Applies hand hygiene standards at all times.
- Provides for the care and handling of patients in all age groups related to practice area, including special consideration of their specific needs.
- Completes all required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner. Assures all fields are complete including, but not limited to contrast type, usage, amount and time out reporting in accordance with department and The Joint Commission safety standards.
- Completes exams on Meditech, to include all applicable ancillary charges. Verifies exam on PACS in a timely manner upon exam completion.
- Responsible for the maintenance of equipment, restocking, ordering of supplies and quality control.
