The Debt Analyst is primarily responsible for supporting the Senior Debt Analyst, System Director, Debt and the Vice President/Assistant Treasurer. Attention to detail is crucial, as primary responsibilities include operational management of the external debt and derivative portfolio and the intercompany loan program, treasury workstation management, and providing strong analytical support. This position interacts with a number of CommonSpirit Health departments including finance/accounting, legal, hospital CFOs and other regional facility finance/accounting groups. In addition, this position will interact with an external parties including, bond trustees, broker dealers, investment banks, outside external counsel, consultants, auditors and other financial intermediaries. This position will be based in CommonSpirit’s San Francisco office and likely include a combination of remote and in-office work.   PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in the management of the operational aspects of the centralized external debt portfolio: - Serve as the initial point of contact with bond trustee operations staff and external banking partners - Validate and process all debt service-related invoices received from the trustees and banks - Review and check for accuracy all debt service payments and other related expenses and ensure timely payment of debt obligations - Review and check for accuracy all derivative payments and other related expenses and ensure timely payment of derivative obligations - Coordinate payment of debt and derivative obligations between the San Francisco and Denver cash operations teams and accounts payable - Monitor and update the commercial paper trading activity file, track maturities, rollovers and reset rates - Provide updates on the debt and derivative portfolio as requested by management, including, but not limited to, upcoming maturities, projected interest payments and interest rate activityAssist in the management of the intercompany loan program: - Responsible for updating all intercompany loan schedules - Provide reporting on the intercompany loans as requested by management - Provide corporate accounting with information on any new loans or changes to any of the existing intercompany loans - Ensure that all intercompany loan transactions have been completely processed and settled each month Treasury workstation management: - As the primary user of the FIS and Kyriba treasury workstations (TWS) and the Kaufman Hall Debt Database Portal, the analyst is expected to become an expert user - Enter in all new debt, derivative and intercompany transactions into the TWS - Ensure that all external debt and derivative transactions are correctly reflected in the TWS - Ensure that all internal intercompany loans are correctly reflected in the TWS - Provide monthly intercompany billing file to the Denver cash team - Inform corporate accounting staff on all new changes and activity in the TWS - Ensure all monthly transactions in the TWS have been completely processed - Troubleshoot any TWS issues by either contacting TWS vendor customer service or with internal staff Debt operations support: - Provide support and respond to requests from senior staff members - Assist with debt issuances or other capital finance activities - Assist the senior debt analyst in updating and maintaining internal treasury debt dashboard - Update and prepare the monthly swap mark-to-market (MTM) file and send journal entries to corporate accounting - Update swap collateral posting file and send updated information to external swap consultant - Update commercial paper trading activity file - Prepare monthly debt rollover notices requiring authorized sign off from management - Provide support as needed during quarterly and fiscal year end financials statement disclosures - Look to identify and implement opportunities to improve debt administration processes - Assist and complete other duties as assigned   - The Debt Analyst will report to the System Director, Debt in the San Francisco office
