Job Summary:
This job is responsible for providing training/education to clinic patients to facilitate successful PAP/CPAP therapy and help individuals with sleep issues to maximize treatment opportunities and reduce related health risks. An incumbent works closely with patients to conitor/analyze device readings, review compliance/progress with plan of care and self-management objectives and to eliminate barriers to maximizing the quality of care.
Work also includes:
1) explaining/demonstrating use and care of assigned devices and troubleshooting to assure proper function;
2) promoting knowledge/understanding of sleep wellness/disorders/hygiene and effective treatments;
3) making digitual adjustments to device/equipment based on patient needs and to optimize therapeutic value;
4) identifying device malfuncations and arranging replacement with device provider;
5) documenting all interactions in the patient's medical record in accordance with established procedures; and
6) performing device/equipment cleaning/maintenance activities.
An incumbent may also occasionally perform respiratory care procedures within scope of licensure as necessary.
Work requires knowledge of the standards, procedures and equipment/tools applicable to PAP/CPAP therapy and applicable legal/regulatory requirements.
An incumbent follows proper channels of communication in handling daily and routine problems and recognizing issues that need referral to management.
Essential Duties:
- Meets with clinic patients referred from healthcare providers or as part of internal CPAP follow-up protocol to review progress with plan of care and provide training to facilitate most effective device/equipment usage and therapeutic results.
- Downloads and reviews/analyzes date from devices/equipment procured by patients through their medical equipment provider; makes digital adjustments to device/equipment based on patient needs and to optimize therapeutic value.
- Documents all interactions in the patient's medical record via EPIC in accordannce with established procedure.
- Performs device/equipment cleaning and maintenance activities in accordance with established procedures.
- Coordinates meetings of sleep apnea support group in accordance with american S leep Foundatio protocols for AWAKE groups.
- May occasionally perform respiratory care procedures as necessary.
The EEG Tech performs EEG testing, LTVM testing, ambulatory EEG hook-up and download, assists with
nerve conduction and EMG studies.
1. Must be proficient in 10-20 system hook-up for outpatient and critical patients in an ICU setting.
2. Must be able to identify irregular EEG activity and notify provider if indicated
3. Must be able to identify artifact verses abnormal EEG activity and no what steps to take to assure testing does not have to be repeated.
4. Maintains confidentiality of information related to patients, employees and/or hospital operations at all times
5. Obtains 10 ASET CEUs per year.
6. Responds promptly to hospital when taking call after hours.
7. Clear and concise patient documentation regarding testing and stimulators
8. Reports issues, concerns, problems to manager.

Job Summary:
Performs diagnostic EEG, seizure monitoring, and evoked potential recordings of the brain or central nervous system for patients as ordered by a physician, and in accordance with established protocols, standards and practices. Work includes but is not limited to; 1) patient preparation to include providing a safe testing environment for the patient, 2) performance of, observation and documentation of EEG results, and 3) monitors and checks equipment for possible changes/adjustments as necessary during the study.
Work is performed under the direct supervision of the licensed health care provider and requires thorough knowledge of the function and safe operation of equipment used to perform Electroencephalograph tests.
Incumbents are also accountable for maintaining their skills and knowledge related to job function by participating in conferences, technical meetings, and other educational activities and participating in departmental quality assurance programs within the scope of hospital-wide program.

The Electrophysiology Specialist (EPS) applies scientific principles related to clinical electrophysiology to provide technical support and patient care services.
