Prepare monthly hospital financial statements for board and management reports, including a statement of operations, balance sheet, statement of cash flows, intercompany transactions statement, operating statistics, management summary of results, and other analysis as needed. 3. No weekends or organizationally recognized holidays required.    Job Summary: Provides information to patients who require assistance navigating through their financial options. Work includes: 1) provide information to patients on costs, payment methods and alternatives to payments, including charity care, and 2) accepting, processing and reconciling payments. Work requires keeping current on all available financial programs and tools, knowledge of insurance authorization/billing and privacy/confidentiality practices, as well as knowledge of medical terminology and insurance payor (specifically Medicaid requirements) and charity care approval process. An incumbent follows proper channels of communication in handling daily and routine problems and recognizing issues that need referral to management. Strong customer service skills are necessary. This job exists in multiple locations, and while there may be minor differences in job content, they are not significant for classification purposes. Overall, the nature of the work and job requirements are consistent between locations. An incumbent is located either behind-the-scenes, interacting with patients on the phone or at the front desk, interacting with patients directly. Essential Duties: Explains financial options and provides financial counseling to patients. Serves as an internal resource for reimbursement questions. Facilitates processing of financial assistance/charity care applications. Monitors outstanding high dollar patient accounts to pursue payment arrangements or other options. Performs daily payment reconciliation activities.

Assists patients and their families with questions concerning insurance and other financial issues. 7. Identifies and effectively communicates financial information team members, patients and their families with emphasis on identifying any potential patient out-of-pocket liability. 8. Works with patients, their families and team members when possible to help address insurance coverage gaps via alternative funding options. 9. Facilitates resolution of patient billing issues 10. Ensures payers are listed Accurately, pertaining to primary, secondary, and/or tertiary coverage and billing when a patient has multiple third party/governmental payers listed on an account 11. Processes patient accounts and deploys established policies to resolve insurance issues with patient accounts 12. Initiates pre-cert for in-house patients when required, obtaining pre-certification reference number, approved length of stay, and utilization review company contact person and telephone number 13. Notifies hospital Case Managers on all in-house patients regarding insurance plan changes/COB order, out of network plans, and Medicare supplemental plans that require pre-certification 14. Contacts physician’s on scheduled patients, to notify them of authorization requirements and any possible financial holds 15. Analyzes reports to ensure admission dates for patient type changes are accurate in order for the account to appear on insurance verification reports
