Job Summary: This job is responsible for coordinating all activities relating to the pursuit of the Magnet and/or Pathway to Excellence (PTE) designation which recognizes healthcare organizations for quality patient care, nursing excellence, innovations in professional nursing practice and nursing job satisfaction/career development. An incumbent facilitates attainment/sustainment of these certifications, including analyzing Magnet/PTE program components/criteria, providing education and support for interdisciplinary collaboration for preparation/readiness activities, coordinating the development/submittal of the formal application, and coordinating communication/collaboration with the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Work is performed in close collaboration with the clinical and administrative leadership of the assigned CHI Franciscan Health (CHI-FH) facility and is focused on supporting shared governance and facilitating the sustained development of a positive nursing practice environment.   Work also includes: 1) analyzing hospital nursing practice standards, operating policies, procedures and management structure to identify current operational gaps in meeting Magnet/POE standards and coordinating the development of action plans to rectify; 2) supporting development of CHI-FH nursing quality, performance improvement and professional practice standards and integrating into the culture of the assigned facility; 3) serving as primary site-based contact for the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI), including coordinating timely data submission/reporting; 4) supporting quality improvement teams on projects relating to nurse-sensitive indicators; 5) coordinating the roll out of new/updated staffing/scheduling system (e.g. Clairvia) functionality and training; and 6) coordinating the submission of staffing plans and updating in response to scheduling system upgrades.   Key contacts are generally with CHI-FH and site-based management, steering committees and cross-functional or cross-organizational teams where strong coordination, consensus-building and change management skills are needed. An incumbent serves as a key professional practice resource for nursing-related quality and performance improvement teams. Work requires knowledge of Magnet/PTE standards and criteria, evidence-based professional nursing practice/nursing-sensitive clinical indicators, clinical analytics and NDNQI data collection, submission and reporting.   Essential Duties: - Coordinates Magnet/PTE activities related to facility readiness and processes leading to application submission; facilitates, using a structured team approach, the development of a thorough, concise and well-documented application; serves as primary contact with ANCC. - Supports nursing quality and the development, implementation and evaluation of standards of nursing practice for the assigned facility via the shared governance model; serves as the professional practice resource for key site-based nursing committees. - Serves as primary National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) liaison for the assigned facility; coordinates data submission in a timely and complete manner; provides NDNQI nurse-sensitive data results and direct support to quality improvement teams and nursing leadership at the assigned facility. - Serves as primary site-based contact for the staffing/scheduling system (e.g. Clairvia); ensures that the system is set up and working effectively for the assigned facility.
