- Provide stabilization and emergency care for patients to include special procedures such as triage, orthopedic splinting, cardiac pacing, cardioversion and defibrillation; eyes, ears, nose and throat procedures, wound repair, complex medication administration, cardio-respiratory resuscitation, gynecological and obstetrical procedures and management of psychiatric emergencies

- Provides continuous cardiac monitoring, arrhythmia recognition and intervention.
- Initiates and titrates multiple, complex cardiac related infusions at higher doses.
- Manages intubated/mechanically ventilated patients.
- Manages patients with acute neurological/neurosurgical events.
- Manages acute trauma patients.
- Performs related duties as required.

Our Medical/Telemetry unit has 38 beds. We have a varied medical/telemetry population of cardiac, sepsis, pneumonia, and diabetic patients. Our RN staff provide primary care and we have an RN to patient ratio of 4-5 to 1. We are most proud of our positive staff and the support that they provide for our patients and staff.
Our Med/Tele Department Leadership team is comprised of a two Clinical Managers, and a Unit Based Educator. We offer strong teamwork to support new staff on our unit and provide residency training for new graduates and/or RN's moving into the acute care setting.

Job Summary
- We are a specialized, fast-paced, observation unit dedicated to responding to the needs of the patient who requires ongoing diagnostic testing or observation prior to discharge or admission. Our staff provide compassionate, high quality care that is respectful, patient and family-centered, safe and cost-efficient.
- Our nurses are adept at working with fast paced changes and coordinating care since stays are typically less than 24-48 hours in this unit. Despite the rapid patient turnover, nurses in this unit demonstrate their caring by quickly establishing a rapport with the patient and involving them in their own care. The staff experience the professional satisfaction that comes with making a difference every day for their patients.
- The patient population includes those experiencing chest pain, stroke, congestive heart failure exacerbation, uncontrolled hypertension, dehydration, and post-procedural recovery for cardiac catheterization and short stay surgery.
- Nurses working this unit will also care for inpatient med/tele patients in various care areas. Resident nurses are provided with an in-depth Med/Surg Residency.
